Accessibility

Two things are covered here: this website, and the suites themselves. The second matters more, and it is the one people are usually calling about.

Accessible suites

Accessibility varies by building, and in some cases by floor. Rather than publish a general assurance, we would rather you tell us exactly what you need — step-free entry, door widths, a roll-in shower, grab bars, an accessible parking space, a suite near a lift — and we will tell you plainly whether we can meet it in a particular suite.

If we cannot, we will say so rather than place someone in a home that does not work for them. This comes up most often with insurance placements, where a family has already had a very bad week, and getting it wrong compounds that.

This website

The site is built to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. In practice that means:

• Text contrast meeting or exceeding AA at every size — the brand's core blue sits at 7.25:1 on white and the dark headline colour at 13.08:1
• Every interactive element reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator
• A skip link to the main content on every page
• Semantic headings in a single logical order per page
• Alternative text on meaningful images, and no information conveyed by colour alone
• Animation suppressed entirely for anyone whose system requests reduced motion
• Full functionality without JavaScript, including reading every page and every rate

Alternative formats

We will provide any page on this site, any suite description or any agreement in large print, plain text or another accessible format on request, at no cost. Ask and we will send it.

Ontario obligations

We aim to meet our responsibilities under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, including the Information and Communications Standards. Our multi-year accessibility plan and our policy on accessible customer service are available on request.
